- First D.M. in Endocrinology from the All India Institute of
Medical Sciences, (1987)
- Member of the faculty, (Assistant – Associate and subsequently
Additional Professor) at the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute
of Medical Sciences, Lucknow (1988-98). Involved in establishing
the department, clinical service, and the D.M (fellowship) training
program during this period. Was DM examiner and thesis supervisor
for the students who graduated during this period.
- Fogarty fellow at the Endocrine hypertension division- calcium
section (Professor E.M Brown), Brigham and Women’s Hospital,
Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA. (1993-94). (worked on various
aspects of the then recently cloned calcium sensing receptor)
- Japan International Cooperation Agency Fellow (JICA) (1996)
visited several universities in japan and trained in bone densitometry
techniques.
- Established and developed India’s first Bone Health Program,
made possible by the installation of India’s first DXA system
in 1997 at Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute, Lucknow.
- Founder member- secretary, and subsequently (presently) President
Indian Society for Bone and Mineral Research.
- Member WHO Global Task Force on Osteoporosis
- Member WHO- Bone and Joint Decade, National Action Network-

Initiated and launched ISBMR – International Osteoporosis Foundation Program on Physician Awareness 2005-2007. This is a unique initiative and several Asian countries are adopting the model for which my advice has been sought (IOF Worldwide Congress- Bangkok, September 27-30, 2005.)
